–Carbon trading will only create more wealth for those that already have it and destroy the lives of those already disadvantaged — it will not have a significant impact on global warming.

–So much for the world going green. We continue to pollute the world while pretending that we are actually helping by buying new light-bulbs and making some millions of dollars by trading Carbon Credits. It boarders on delusion.

“A U.S. appeals court has ruled that an anti-Castro Cuban exile and former CIA operative accused in Cuba of a 1976 plane bombing that killed 73 people should stand trial for an immigration violation … Along with the plane bombing, Posada, who worked for the CIA during the Cold War, is accused in Cuba of plotting 1997 hotel bombings in Havana … He was jailed in Panama for plotting to kill Castro during an Ibero-American summit in 2000 but was pardoned by outgoing President Mireya Moscoso in 2004.”

–Canadian supporter questions Conservative Immigration Minister Diane Finley on deportation of U.S. Iraq War Resisters
Ottawa, Canada
On Friday, August 15, 2008, a Canadian supporter of U.S. war resisters challenged Canadian Immigration Minister Diane Finley to explain why she is deporting U.S. war resisters to court martial and military prison.
64% of Canadians want the war resisters to stay here, 82% of Canadians are against the Iraq war, and on June 3, 2008, the Canadian Parliament passed a motion calling on the government to halt the deportation of war resisters.
With the recent decision to deport Jeremy Hinzman, the first war resister to come to Canada, the question remains: does the minority Conservative government support democracy in Canada or does it support the Iraq war?

“[T]he rise in Iraqi female suicide bombers since 2007 is primarily a tactical innovation by Sunni-based Iraqi insurgent organizations in response to the recent tactical shifts of American occupation forces. It is tactical allure and strategic context, not psychology or culture, that best explains the rise in Iraqi female bombers.”

Really? … if this is the case, which group will form the majority? Even compared to the usual flow of lowbrow racist articles published in the mainstream media, this story stands out for its utter absurdity. It seems lumping all of the ‘coloureds’ in one basket is the only way whites can ever be considered a minority group.

“President Pervez Musharraf is expected to leave office in the next few days before Pakistan’s Parliament takes up impeachment proceedings against him, following a breakthrough in secret talks designed to ease his departure from office … “Musharraf will neither face impeachment nor be prosecuted,” one person said.”
Musharraf’s departure is the first step to re-establishing a democratic government in Pakistan.
