Strategic voting in Canada | The Real News Network - Story

–Keep the Tories out at any cost, or vote for what you actually want. As the saying goes, “you can’t always get what you want, but sometime you can get what you need”.
That said, you will never get what you want unless you demand it. Vote with your mind, not your emotional fear of the Tories. We will never get a government that represents the people unless we grow-up and stop fearing the bogyman.

This guy is infuriating. He alleges that he usually votes NDP, but will vote Liberal this time. This is not the first time that strategic voting has been pushed as the only way to keep out the conservatives, and this is not the first time that it looked like the conservatives could win, but he, a political science professor at Wilfred Laurier is just now deciding to vote strategically.
I’m surprised he thinks that major divide is between the Cons and everybody else given the last 2 decades of neo-Liberalism and attacks on all things public. The Liberals are the feel-good hatchetmen that have eroded all levels of education and healthcare.
He was also talking about the “Green Shift” as if it is about the environment. He didn’t even suggest that it may not be about the environment, but really a shift from progressive to flat tax.
He’s a Liberal. This is so typical of a Liberal. “You know, I’m really very progessive and would vote NDP, but given the history in my riding, I will be practical and vote with the status quo”. Therefore reinforcing the status quo and giving it legitimacy.
