LENIN’S TOMB: Solzhenitsyn and the right.

Posted by Graham on August 5th, 2008

–It is hard sometimes to get across to people the difference between the Stalinists and the socialists and Marxists that hail from the Left Opposition, not because the differnece is small or confusing but because of the image of the Left created in the popular press. In my opinion this is no better exemplified than by the misuse of Trotsky’s theory of “Permanent Revolution” by even the so-called liberal elite press — trust me, if you haven’t read the book (or at least the wiki page) you probably don’t know what it means.

Well, Lenin’s Tomb does a good job of highlighting this by focusing on Solzhenitsyn’s recent passing and the spin conjured-up by the press. Solzhenitsyn is no friend of liberty and was far from the first to expose the horrors of Stalin’s reign in the USSR. The real heroic anti-Stalinists were those inside the country fighting the bureaucracy from the Left who were hunted down by Stalin’s assassins in the Great Terror, not the right-wing that in true opportunistic fashion both supported and denounced the regime. Have a read.

  1. John R. Says:

    Typical Trotskyist revisionism.

  2. Graham Says:

That is a contradiction in terms. Pointing out history is not revisionism.
