–A quick look at some lives that have been destroyed because of the Canadian Security Certificates. These are totally unacceptable in a democratic and socially minded country. The people must stand together and fight these reactionary policies of the government. If we do not we will be fighting for the next half century just to get the rights back that we had at the end of the last century.

–This is not good. There is no way that you can write a constitution that excludes half of the population’s voice. This is not democracy this is just straightout imperialism.

–The Guardian takes a surface look at the underlying problem within the French “Socialist” party. One thing is clear, it is not the party of the working people that they purport to be. The party leadership needs to listent to their base if they are going to get beyond the current crisis in one peice and actually offer up a resistence to the current slide to the right in the French elite governing structures.

–The CBC lockout has made it to Slashdot. The podcasting on the www.cbcunplugged.com is worth a listen if you are looking for something to replace the regular CBC news. Straight from the mouths of the workers and journalists of the CBC. They are actually giving the news and weather and music. Astounding. Maybe we should fire all the managers. It is up to the public to stop this lockout.

–The WSWS takes a look at the current developments in Sri Lanka. The main criticism here is that there is too much finger pointing and not enough investigation. The people want peace but all the parties seem to want to incite more war.

–A social democratic model for Europe to counter the Neo-liberal model. I am not convinced that Social Democratic models are the answer… something a little more radical might be needed. However, we should not reject them out of hand just because they tend to be soft un-stable versions of liberal-capitalism.

–Only in the US? It is strange the private citizens have to take things into their own hands when it comes to forcing the government and industry to do what is right. The legal system in the US is a strange place.

–A comment in the Guardian looking at the current situation in Venezuela. It is hard to get a good picture of what it is like there at the moment so I am posting as many news articles as I can on the subject. The media is spinning untruths.

–Telus is offering MP3 players to scab workers. The lengths that the corporation needs to go to get workers to cross the picket lines is telling of the support the workers have in the community.
