Posted by graham on 30th August 2005

–If the labour department is not working for workers then the workers should take it back. This might not be the best way to do it but I think that they have made their point clear.

DEVELOPMENT: Hopes ‘Fade’ for Millennium Meet

Posted by graham on 30th August 2005

–Looks like even the optimists of capitalism have decided that they do not care about people and poverty anymore because they cannot afford it. A Millennium Development meeting might not happen this year because so little has happened towards it and the “developing” countries are starting to wonder why they signed on in the first place.

Guardian Unlimited | Special reports | Republicans accused of witch-hunt against climate change scientists

Posted by graham on 30th August 2005

–Some more anti-science coming out of the US government. There seems to be a purge going on in the government of the US over climate change. They have set-up a committee looking for “flaws” in science research on climate change. Yes, the US government has deemed peer review not good enough anymore, now scientists must say what the politicians want or they get no funding for their “research”. The obvious result of this will be the collapse of the research system in the US. This is not good for anyone.

Guardian Unlimited | Special reports | Sunnis in crisis over Iraqi constitution

Posted by graham on 30th August 2005

–The US is so far outside reality with this “constitution” that I am starting to wonder if any of the people writing it really ever steop out onto the streets of Iraq. If you contrast this to the process in Venezuela of writing their constitution you have to laugh at the rhetoric coming from the news… it is all backwards, all of it.

Posted by graham on 30th August 2005

–This article compliments the BBC article below. There is no way that the world community can sit back and watch this disaster that the US is causing go on unchallenged. The AIDS and HIV policies of the US towards Africa are doing fundamental damage to the people there. It is exporting its Christian fundamentalist values throughout the world and it is having a horrible effect.

BBC NEWS | Africa | US ‘harming’ Uganda’s Aids battle

Posted by graham on 30th August 2005

–Religion once again is driving US foreign policy. I cannot understand how it is that policy can be written with no interest in the facts and figures collected but based purely on religious belief. To fight AIDS we are going to have to deal with the realities not the fantasies of the rightwing in the US.

Medical schools must move more quickly to address doctor shortage - Yahoo! News

Posted by graham on 30th August 2005

–Yes, that is right, the Health Minister is blaming the schools for not letting enough of their students in to teh medical programmes and not letting enough students graduate. Not only is this statement without any substance or merit it also points out how far outside reality the Health Minister is. Even if the schools wanted to let more students in they are going to need more money from the federal government to do so.

Report dispels idea that Americans see Canada as safe haven for terrorists - Yahoo! News

Posted by Graham on 29th August 2005

–The falacy that it is the Canadian’s fault that terrorists get to the US is ridiculous. First of all you have to go through US customs to get to the US which are tended by US Custom agents. Second of all, why would the “terrorist” risk going through two boarders when they can just go through one? People are being fed mis-truths by the news and the politicians.
