CJAD 800 : News: Tibetans plan protest against Nortel role in Chinese railway project
–Some Canadian businesses have upset the Tibetan community for helping the Chinese government build a railway without raising the human rights concerns over what is going on in Tibet.

I have a better idea. Lets protest the Chinese government (while we protest against Nortel) for what they are doing in Tibet.
Why are we always getting upset at the henchmen (Nortel) while ignoring the bosses(”the people’s” government)?
I agree that Canadian companies shouldn’t be working there (although the government will likely just say that they are trying to improve the lives of “the people”), but the Chinese don’t belong there either. There activities in Tibet are nothing short of colonialism with a smattering cultural destruction thrown in.

I love this line…
“As a company policy, we do not do business in countries with a record of persistent human rights violations or where the UN or multinational agreements have implemented export controls or sanctions.”
But, we’ll do business with China…
Of course, this is the exact same attitude the rest of the world also takes so who can blame them? Right?
