Guardian Unlimited | Special reports | Liberals hit back at Iraq’s new Islamists
–Democracy is not a word that is used very much in Liberal circles when things do not go their way. The people will react to oppression by electing anyone who seems to be standing for their interests. If the “liberals” in Iraq want popular support they have to start being critical of the US occupation and start moving in a real direction for the Iraqi people’s control over their own future.

The Council of Canadians: Enforcement act threatens Canadian food sovereignty
–The Council of Canadians launches into what is posted below. People should be involved in this if we are going to maintain control over our own food production. Free Market “control” is an illusion it means we lose democratic control over the process and that means the control goes to those that are trying to make a profit above all else.

Yahoo! News - ‘Smart regulation’ seen as weakening food, drug and environmental standards
–”Smart Regulation” is stupid. It is an attack on the ability for consumers to control the products they eat. The people have demanded made in Canada regulations but we have lost out in government against industry. We are not living in a people’s democracy if the people are not making the decisions.

Canadian envoy challenges New York Times on editorial about porous border
–We do not need to defend our immigration laws to the US. They control their own boarders, they control who come into their country. To blame Canada is ridiculous. McKenna is off the mark again as well. He talks of how we have bended to US pressure even though there is no need to do so.

ModBlog - Red Bewtween the Lines: Boycott Pro-Life BMO Mastercard
–I am outraged at this. When corporations start picking sides (any sides) to political and social concerns there is a problem. Allowing private multinational financial support using these companies is not something that the public should stand for. It is a slap in the face of any idea of democracy.

Citizen’s Press–> The Mendacity of Modern Philosophy
–New article on the Citizen’s Press. Interesting analysis where the goal is to “compare and contrast the ancient and modern philosophical grounds and assess the notions of the good-life that arise therefrom.” A direct look at the falsehoods of modern philosophy. That may sound confusing but it will all be clear at the end. Have a read.

The Council of Canadians: Assimilate This!
–If this is not the biggest threat to Canada right now I do not know what is. Integration with the US means that there will be no Canada in the political sense. We will lose democratic control over all aspects of security and economics… is there anything else?
