Guardian Unlimited | Special reports | Condom shortfall hits Aids work
–Condoms are in short supply in “developing” countries. So much for the market taking care of the supply side. It is time for the governments to take over the production of condoms and makes sure there is an over supply so that people who need them are getting them.

CBC News: Martin says no decision yet on ballistic missiles
–No decision or a decision. The people should be making this decision not the elites. Martin is waffling yet agian and it is another example of Canada trying to get the economic benefits without commitment. I think we are going to get a bad name if the Liberals keep this up.

CBC News: Harper pleased by budget, won’t bring down government
–Well if Harper is happy about the budget then I am unhappy. Corporate tax cuts are never good in my view. I think that Layton has it right, the Liberals turned to fear tactics to keep the Conservatives out and then gave a conservative budget. It will not be good for the people.

CBC News: Bush set to press Putin on democracy
–I just thought the title of this one was funny. Bush is the last person I would choose to tell Putin what democracy is.

My comment is in the comments section of both the posts. The response is long and I expect the discussion will continue. CBC News: Martin will reject missile defence: report
–???He is going to reject Missile Defence??? Martin is going to reject belonging to the programme? Am I missing something here? Didn’t McKenna just say that we were already part of it? I am celebrating with caution… This is a change. Can the Liberals be listening to reason for once?

ZNet |Mexico | Mexico US inspired Coup d’etat
–US pressure on the mayor of Mexico City not to run (he is left leaning) is not pleasing the people there. Andrés Manuel López Obrador is the most popular political leader in Mexico. He would be great for the country because of this. Why is it then that the US does not want him to run?

–Some words from the Polaris Institute. The think tank for progressives in Canada. “Once again the WTO (World Trade/Theft Organization) and its business allies are gearing up to sell off services to the private sector. The USA and 15 countries have forged an alliance and pressuring other countries to open up their economies to private sector service corporations.”

Guardian Unlimited | Guardian daily comment | The elusive rainbow
–South Africa is not the place that people wanted it to be. Much has happened but it is unclear if the poor have gotten too much out of it. The power still rests with the rich white minority.

Paul Martin all for diplomacy, but advocates tough stand on nuclear ambitions
–I am really not sure what to make of this. Martin is once again saying that there is some way to have diplomacy when the US is bent on using force…
