–It really doesn’t matter what Canadians think about the elections in the US. We do not get to decide. However, the CTV group (including the Globe and Mail) have had some strange “news” stories that have pointed to Bush as being the better choice. The decision is based on trade relations with the US. I would not mind so much if this were true but it is not. The only person they interviewed was someone from a very right leaning economic policy thinktank in the US. Reporting has to get better in Canada if we are not going to fall into the same problems that the US have.

–This is a normal reaction to what the US is doing to Cuba. It is too bad that it will not have more of an effect on the Cuban economy than the US economy. What it will do is force Cubans that are sending money back to the island to send more. Depending on how much they are sending we may see a change in where people leaving Cuba go. I cannot say that I disagree with the measure.

–The people ask for proportional representation and they get the fuzzy ranking method as a choice. It is obvious that the process right now is not the greatest but asking people who do not know much about politics in the first place to rank 5-6 party heads while they are in the ballot box seems to me to be a bit silly… I do not think that I could do this. People are not this way. We know who we like and who we dislike. But to ask us to rank the people in between is nonsensical.
