Yahoo! News – Klein derided as mean-spirited for comments about handicapped
–It is official. Premier Klein is completely insensitive and ignorant about the people that are suffering in his province. This should not be much of a surprise… people should be outraged.

BBC NEWS | World | Americas | Aristide ‘wants free elections’
–The deception continues. The news agencies continue to reiterate the official line coming from the whitehouse and is missing the point. Last time Haiti had free elections Aristide won. He would probably win again. The powers that be will not allow this to happen because Aristide is a true populist president and that is bad for business.

The NDP also have to have a mandate that works that they are going to stick to. The left needs to hold them to account. The people need to know that the politics of the Liberals in their province is not liberal but conservative. This should be fairly straight forward to do. Just cite their record.

BBC NEWS | Business | UK report says Linux is ‘viable’
–I had to post this. The UK government has looked at Linux and open source software and said it is a viable alternative to proprietary software. Where is Canada and Canadian Universities on this? Our tax dollars are being wasted propping-up companies like M$ that could be used for more constructive ventures.

–Policy Alternatives, my favorite policy group, has released a report examining the way the government is wasting our money on private healthcare. There needs to some major effort on the left to include the public in these decisions. For-profit healthcare will lead to wasted public money. It is inevitable.
